Text: Bas Hakker, Nicolette Hulsebos media 2022 nº 352 43 today and have the edit ready tomorrow. Thinkers and doers, in other words. At the same time, it is also about another quality: seeing what is needed and taking the rest of the editorial team along with them. perfect example You cannot expect titles with a lot of history to allow all journalists to join in immediately with the transition from magazine to media brand. Pieter Zwart, now editor-in-chief of VI, who won the beLOfte a few years ago, has lived up to his prize at VI and is now building a multimedia brand consisting of podcasts, videos, and specials. He sees the development and is also a perfect example of someone who can take the 'old thinkers' with him (the journalists who used to write 'a piece' now make entire video reports). The jury was positive that this year precisely such a multimedia talent stood out, one who knows what needs to be done, can execute it very well and brings others along in that ambition. The latter was really the deciding factor in the final jury choices this year. winner beLOFte 202 The winner of the beLOFte 2022 is Lotte Valkenburg , junior designer New Skool Media. The 2022-winner has a feel for what is needed and acts accordingly. After her graduation she set to work with the important task of helping shape the digital transformation of Knipmode magazine, knowing that its constituency consists of (many) over-sixties. She decided to give sewing lessons during the corona period with the motto: 'I've never done it before so I think I can do it.’ In an approachable way, she explained on YouTube how to make clothes. It worked and how! Soon, hundreds of people were participating in the sessions and a dialogue with the new generation that Knipmode is so keen to reach emerged. The initiative grew into what is now called the Knipmode Academy, an active club of people where you can learn all about sewing clothes yourself. She not only built a new audience for her title, but also linked a new business model to it. She naturally strengthened connections with people and was sympathetically open to all questions, which she answered carefully. Her innovative and driven entrepreneurship and hands-on mentality was the deciding factor for the beLOFte 2022 jury. runner-up beLOFte 2022 All the beLOFte judges fell like a log for her energetic presentation. This young journalist writes stories and makes podcasts (Comes a girl to the psych) combining her own life with topics such as transgressive behaviour, mental stress, and war. Her mottoes are telling: 'I am fragile and reliable'. And: 'Journalism is also business.' She sees it as her great ambition to make taboos discussable to a wide audience. Not only does she want to report on her own life and that of others, but she also wants to come up with a solution direction. She herself calls it constructive journalism. "What is constructive journalism? By giving facts and offering a solution. That way you can maybe make world a little bit better." This runner-up does not see herself directly as a media brand, but she says: "I do think it is good when media brands join titles and so they also bring themselves along". The runner-up of the beLOFte of 2022 is: Eva Breda , journalist Flair, Libelle and columnist AD. three more up-and-coming talents In the jury's opinion, there were no losers in the beLOFte presentations. The level was high across the board and the talent diverse. So, every reason to dwell on the other beLOFte candidates who presented their cases on 9 November.
